Islay Laphroaig Whisky Cask 7.4%

The latest oak-aged beer from Innis & Gunn features casks from the renowned Islay distiller Laphroaig. Two casks are used to age the beer. It’s first matured in second fill Bourbon casks for 10 weeks then has three weeks in second fill port casks.

The beer is flaming red with a big rocky head of foam. There’s s blast of oak, vanilla, peat smoke and whisky on the nose followed by smooth creamy malt, vanilla, oak and peat on the palate. The long, bittersweet finish is dominated by creamy malt, oak, whisky and peat. It’s complex, intriguing and delicious.

A bottle costs £6. Available from 6 June in England from branches of Sainsbury’s and Waitrose and Booths and Tesco in Scotland.
